On social media, a secular author bemoaned her low reviews on a book and wondered whether she should keep writing. I commented and said: “I don’t write books based on reviews. I write because I love to write. I must write. I was born to write. So I keep writing.” – Jan Thompson
There is more to it than that, of course, because I’m also a Christian writer. For example, my calling is to write to the glory of God. One of the verses tha often come to my mind is Jeremiah 20:9.
“Then I said, ‘I will not make mention of Him,
Nor speak anymore in His name.’
But His word was in my heart like a burning fire
Shut up in my bones;
I was weary of holding it back,
And I could not” (Jeremiah 20:9, NKJV).
“Then I said, I will not make mention of Him, nor speak any more in His name. But His word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay” (Jeremiah 20:9, KJV).
