Mother’s Day 2022 (Proverbs 31:30-31)

“Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates” (Proverbs 31:30-31).

Dear mothers worldwide:

You know, you don’t need your children to acknowledge you before you can celebrate your own Mother’s Day. That is, you’re not dependent on your child to celebrate this special day. What if you have a wayward child? What if your child is in jail? What if you have given them up for adoption when they were born? What if you don’t know where your child is? Remember that God is the one who made you a mother. Celebrate that!

Yes, it was God who appointed you to be your mother, and it’s not a position granted to you by your children or other people. I say that because some mothers are grieving the loss of their child or children, some mothers have miscarried, some mothers are not able to see their children grow up. And some mothers suffer the anguish of having to pray for their prodigal sons and daughters. Don’t let the pain of life on earth exclude you from the gift of motherhood that God in heaven has granted you. Happy Mother’s Day!

Joyfully in Jesus,
Jan Thompson
